Attention: ALL CHURCH MEMBERS
Your presence is requested in support of our Youth Center at the City Hall (Montague Zoning Commission meeting) on Monday, Feb. 8th 7:30 pm.
The purpose of your attendance is to show support as the committee considers granting a variance to build our Youth Center on the property behind the north parking lot, across the alley, currently zoned residential. This is an awesome step forward for our Youth and our Church!! Please contact Pastor Brooks if you have any questions. It’s amazing what we can accomplish if we all work together!!
February donations for our Love family is for a bit of fun ~ gift cards to restaurants, gas cards, movie passes, gift cards for renting movies, or other family activities you can come up with. Other items for this month are cooking “staples”, such as flour, sugar, oil, brown sugar, shortening, vanilla, and other spices. Have some fun thinking up ideas!
This event benefits the White Lake Food Pantry at Lebanon Lutheran Church. Hunger never takes a break. If you would like to give a monetary donation to the White Lake Food Pantry, you can put it in the donation box across from the office, or mail it to: “Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank” in Comstock Park along with our local food pantry agency number (see below).

It is the policy of St. James Lutheran Church to always be open for scheduled worship services, with the pastor, lay minister or elder(s) conducting the liturgy, or absent the above, other church member(s) leading prayers and songs.
It is conceivable that conditions may necessitate the cancellation of scheduled worship services or other activities; such conditions begin, but not limited to, weather conditions of such as to prevent safe passage of the roads, an authority mandated prohibition of the roads, interruption of church electric, water or sanitary services that may result in health and safety issues.
A committee consisting of the Pastor, the President of the Congregation or his representative, the Head Elder or his representative and the Head Trustee or his representative will make the decision to cancel services or activities. The local TV stations will be asked to announce the closings.
The following is an excerpt from the monthly newsletter from Barbara Listing, President of Right to Life of Michigan – As you will see this is a critical year!
Dear Prolife Friends,
The confetti has been swept up and the noisemakers have gone silent until another New Year’s celebration. It’s official, 2010 is underway. I hope you’re off to a great start!
In my first newsletter of 2010, I want to bring you some good news. I am witnessing, first-hand, a groundswell at the grassroots like I’ve never seen before . . . in over 35 years of prolife activism. Average, everyday citizens are standing to their feet anxious to help us take our state and nation back!
As we watch current events unfold in both Lansing and in Washington, D.C., it’s obvious that elections have consequences. Votes cast in November of 2008 have caused a deadly ripple effect felt to this very day. Innocent lives have been lost as a result.
In 2010, we will have an opportunity to speak our mind and to chart a brand new course.
In Michigan, the primary on August 3, with the general election to follow November 2, will be HISTORIC. It has been 75 YEARS since so many seats have been up for grabs simultaneously.
In a matter of just a few short months, we will cast our votes for . . .
Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Entire U.S. House (15), Entire State House (110), Entire State Senate (38), Two seats on the State Supreme Court.
Due to term limits, almost half of our state delegation (House and Senate) will be replaced this year. This gives you and me an unprecedented opportunity to save the lives of innocent children.
When it comes to unborn children, elections have consequences . . life and death consequences.
Please use care as you support, pray, and vote in the upcoming year!

It is NOW time to register your child for preschool. We invite you to see how a Christian environment combined with preschool instruction can make a difference. Why not visit a class in session and see for yourself? You will be building a strong foundation for your child’s school experiences. We are keeping our tuition the same once again to aid families as well. For those church members who qualify, scholarships are available. Just give me a call and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have. Ellen Grimm – 894-8471

~ Toddler’s Creed ~
If I want it, it’s mine.
If I give it to you and change my mind later, it’s mine. If I can take it away from you, it’s mine.
If I had it a little whiled ago, it’s mine.
If I played with it yesterday, it’s mine.
If it is mine, it will never belong to anybody else,
no matter what. If we are building something together, all of the pieces are mine.
If it looks like mine, it’s mine!
February will be a busy month in Sunday School. We will finish the Fruit of the Spirit – Kindness. If you have not learned it already, the memory verse is: “Be kind…to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32. We will also begin the Fruit of Goodness. The memory verse for goodness is: “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13
